Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon

Qualified from Nottingham University Medical School 1990. He was trained on the All Wales Specialist Registrar Rotation and the Bristol Royal Infirmary Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Unit. Appointed Consultant Surgeon West Wales Hospital 2002 and moved to the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport 2005.

He is trained in general surgery with a sub-specialty interest in upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery.

His particular interests are the surgical treatment of cancers of the stomach and oesophagus, the laparoscopic surgical treatment of gallstones, gastro-oesophageal reflux, obesity, inguinal, incisional and abdominal wall hernias and endoscopy – gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Michael also has an interest in Bariatric Surgery.
