Qualified from St Marys Hospital, London 1991. Formerly Surgical Registrar University Hospital of Wales and Resident Surgical Officer St Marks Hospital London. Obtained Master of Surgery Degree as Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellow at Imperial College/St Marys Hospital undertaking research into laparoscopic surgery and training in virtual reality. Appointed Consultant Surgeon to Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust 2002. Honorary Clinical Tutor to University Wales School of Medicine and sits on the Council of Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.

He is trained in all aspects of coloproctology with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease , laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy . He undertakes diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy – colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy .
